Zumba – exciting times ahead

I was blown away by the 71 people turning up to the free taster class on Tuesday at St. Catriona’s school, Dublin 2. They whooped and clapped their way through the class and I had a ball, myself. I’ve quickly set up two more classes, with free taster classes to launch them, as usual:

Tuesday 25th Jan ’11 at 7pm at St. Catriona’s School, 59 Baggot Street Lower, Dublin 2
Thursday 10th Feb ’11 at 6pm at St. Ann’s Church, Dawson St, Dublin 2

I’m left wonderng now: do the numbers reflect new year’s resolutions, which may well die down in a few months, or is this zumba taking off in Ireland – the beginning of an upward trend the way it is in other countries, including the UK and the USA? Maybe it’s a little of both. What do you think?

Health Promotion Day at Xerox

I’ve just come back from a heath promotion day at Xerox. A few of my students came along who work there and we danced up a storm in the foyer – salsa, bachata and zumba. There weren’t as many people as I had expected attending the promotion but I had a blast anyway thanks to Rui, Claudia and Judith.

Now I’m back at home enjoying some quiet time on the sofa. I love the fact that I get to do this while most normal people are bored in the office. I have the best job!

Zumbathon: €841.40 Raised

I’m just writing a cheque to the Irish Cancer Society for €84140 folloing our zumbathon in October. It was such an enjoyable day, with the biggest number of zumba students I’ve ever taught, a whole host of instructors giving it socks and a really feel-ggod atmopshere. I can’t wait to do the next one. Maybe we’ll make it an annual thing?

The Dublin Central Mission is working out so well as a zumba venue with ti’s high stage and large dance floor, that I am focussing on it for all my zumba classes with a new one starting next Wednesday 10th Nov at 7pm. I’ve had a few people asking for a class later than 6pm, so hopefully this will suit. It’s a free taster class at 7pm, so feel free to drop in and give it a try.
